Sierra Recovery is a licensed residential treatment centre offering personalised, evidence-based treatment for drug and alcohol addiction and the co-occurring mental health conditions that so often sit underneath it. The luxury here is the depth of care: a bespoke treatment plan built around each person, with medical assessment and detox where it is clinically needed, individual and group therapy, holistic therapies and relapse prevention, delivered by an English-speaking clinical team.
Whether the problem is alcohol, cocaine addiction or another drug, or an addiction and mental health picture together, we treat the whole person. Our treatment options cover substance abuse and behavioural addictions, using evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, EMDR and motivational interviewing in a calm, therapeutic setting, a genuinely holistic approach to addiction recovery.

Your day-to-day care is led by our director, Nerea Encinas Sánchez, a registered General Health Psychologist, with a qualified nursing team on site. The clinical programme uses the PROMIS Clinics model adapted to Sierra, and is clinically backed by PROMIS, who have treated addiction in the United Kingdom since 1986. Everyone on the team speaks English.
When you go home your care continues, online wherever you live, or in person at the PROMIS clinics in London, with a weekly session for a full year, more than 48 in the twelve months after discharge, and a written handover to your GP. For clients elsewhere in Europe we arrange continuity online and help find local services near you.

Equine-assisted therapy
Horses respond to what you are actually feeling rather than what you say you are feeling, which is why equine work often reaches people before words do. It runs on site, as part of the ordinary week.

A qualified team, registered in Spain and working to the profiles required for a supervised treatment residence in Andalusia. The clinical model behind the programme is the PROMIS Clinics model, adapted to Sierra and clinically backed by PROMIS in the United Kingdom.
Our rehab centre programmes
Group work up to five times a day, individual therapy three times a week, family sessions and psychiatric input where it is needed. Most people stay twenty eight days or longer, because that is what the work takes.
Treatment programmes
People come to us for alcohol and drugs, and almost always for the anxiety, depression or trauma sitting underneath. We treat both in the same programme, with the same team. Where clinical risk requires a hospital, we say so before you travel and arrange it with our partner hospital.
Where a medically supervised detox is needed, for alcohol, cocaine, opioids, benzodiazepines, cannabis, prescription or synthetic drugs, Sierra arranges it with an appropriate medical provider and it is completed before residential admission. Sierra is a registered health centre, not a hospital or a detox unit.

The kitchen
Appetite is one of the first things to come back, and one of the first things people notice here. Our meals are prepared by our Michelin-trained chef, Harri Archanco, using produce from the Malaga province: olive oil from the groves around us, fruit and vegetables from the local growers, and menus that follow the season.

Sierra Recovery is a registered health centre in Málaga province, and its programme uses the PROMIS Clinics model adapted to Sierra and is clinically backed by PROMIS Clinics, one of the United Kingdom's longest established private rehabilitation clinics, treating addiction since 1986.
PROMIS is family owned and run, is registered with the Care Quality Commission for its clinics in England, and has treated thousands of patients across its sites in South Kensington and Kent. Its Managing Director is Robin Lefever, BSc Psychology, University of Kent.
That lineage is worth knowing. The building here is new; the clinical thinking is not. Sierra was founded by Robin Lefever, Managing Director of PROMIS, who has worked in addiction treatment for around 35 years, the programme uses the PROMIS model adapted to this centre, and PROMIS clinicians sit on the team that reviews it. You are choosing a clinical approach with more than 40 years behind it, delivered in a new place.
Sierra Recovery Services S.L. is a separate Spanish company operating a single centre. It is not a CQC-regulated body itself; it is regulated in Spain by the Junta de Andalucía.
Yes. Sierra Recovery Services S.L. is entered in the Registro Andaluz de Centros, Servicios y Establecimientos Sanitarios (the Andalusian register of health centres, services and establishments) under N.I.C.A. 67331. The authorisation was granted by the Delegación Territorial de Salud y Consumo (the regional health and consumer affairs authority) in Málaga following an on-site inspection with a positive assessment.
The authorised care unit is atención sanitaria a drogodependientes (healthcare for drug dependency, authorised care unit U.71), in a supervised residential setting. It is not a hospital licence. Where clinical risk requires a hospital, care is transferred to our partner hospital, and we tell you which applies to you before you travel.

Most people stay twenty eight days or longer, because that is what the clinical work realistically takes.
Length of stay is agreed after a clinical assessment, and it can be extended if the clinical picture calls for it.
Sierra Recovery is a residential rehabilitation centre, not a detox unit. Where a medically supervised detox is needed, it is completed in an appropriate medical setting before your residential programme begins, and qualified nurses are part of the team during your stay.
We assess which of the two applies to you before you travel.
Your care continues. Aftercare is delivered online, or in person at the PROMIS clinics in London when you return to the UK, with a written handover so nothing has to be explained from scratch.
Alongside that there is a weekly virtual group with the people you did the programme with, and a written clinical handover to your GP or UK provider on discharge.

Breakfast together, then the first group. Structure is most of what holds a first fortnight steady, so the shape of the day does not move.

Small enough that nobody sits at the back. The psychoeducation curriculum runs to seventeen modules across the stay, from emotional regulation to boundaries and relapse prevention.
